The sun is sinking into the horizon and bright flashes of red and orange sun-sparks shoot outward like splashing water. Cicadas and crickets emerge from their quiet and begin to hum their calm song that the day’s heat must have kept them from singing until now, like words sometimes do, came pouring out all at once. The placid drone of evening insects and the smell of sweet summer flowers meet the coolness of evening and create an atmosphere of timelessness and peace or perhaps better said—serenity. It inspired long deep breaths and slow exhales, as if it were possible to breathe in the moment along with the air, to absorb the moment and let the blood carry it to the entire body.
